Aimed at those ready to take the step from basic sewing of garments into working with stretchy fabrics. A quick and easy t-shirt is a must in every sewists wardrobe, so come and learn the basics of stretch with me. We'll use the Closet Core T-Shirt pattern to help you get to grips with some stretch sewing skills. This class is aimed at the confident beginner sewists who know how to use a machine and have finished a few projects to completion. If you need to learn some basics first take a look at some of our other classes which may be more suitable. Techniques taught & What’s Included: - Basic stretch sewing techniques - inc. but not limited to: handling stretch fabrics, using pins/clips, pattern storage, needle plate markings, tips and tricks to make your sewing life easier - Tips specific for sewing with jersey/knit/stretch fabrics including different threads and needles - Suitable seam finishes - Suitable hemming techniques - Use of a sewing machine at our dedicated sewing studio - Option to use an overlocker (sharing mine or bring your own if preferred) - An A0 print out of the pattern pages required for the project in your size - Use of all the tools in the sewing studio You will need to come and collect your pattern and discuss suitable fabrics in the days before the lesson so you can cut everything out before arrival, then we can concentrate on sewing on the day. If you plan to bring an overlocker, you will need to drop that off with me too so I can check it's in working order. What’s not included: - A printout of the instructions - Cutting out time, this will need to be doner before you arrive. Paper pattern, and fabric. - Fabric or notions. All materials will need to be purchased separately (they do not have to be purchased from me but they must be suitable for the project i.e have 4 way stretch). Under 16's are welcome but must be accompanied by someone 18+ who is also a paying attendee (sorry I just don't have space for spectators). Cancellation policy - 2 days required for a full refund. If you cancel inside the 2 day period, no refund will be issued unless we manage to fill your place, please be assured all efforts will be made by us to do so but no guarantee of this can be given. Please try to arrive around 10 minutes before the session start time to allow us to say hello, get you a drink made, allocate you a machine and settle into the studio.
