FAQS
You asked, we answered
-
Do you sell gift cards?Yes, of course. Gift cards for classes are available online or in person. Gift cards for the shop are available in person or can be arranged digitally if you email me on info@thesewistry.co.uk
-
How do I find you?Search your maps app for The Sewistry. We're at 2 Whin Drive, Bolton le Sands, LA5 8DB
-
Do you service and repair sewing machines? Not personally, but Simon our engineer runs Bay Sewing Machine Services. He can be contacted on 07834899264. Servicing starts at £55, drop off and collection available at the shop. Please note that he can no longer work on computerized Bernina, Pfaff, or Husqvarna machines
-
What does the Sewistry mean?Every one of us that stitches is a sewist; also because the word "sewer" when written has a whole different meaning! Using the term Sewist also allows us to include all types of people who create, without having to differentiate between what type of stitching you do. My hope is that The Sewistry can become a place for all us sewists to belong
-
Can you teach me advanced pattern drafting methods and adjustments? In short no, I've been sewing quite a while but I don't really make, adjust, and wear close fitting garments enough to be able to teach this to someone else. For more advanced techniques I recommend Chris at The Studio Lancaster and Artybird in Carnforth
-
Are children allowed at Stitch School?I am not DBS checked so no, not unless accompanied by a fee paying adult attending the same class. Regrettably I don't have enough room to allow non attendees into the school since places are limited to only 4 already
-
Do I need to bring anything else for Stitch School? We will provide all tools and sometimes materials, unless otherwise stated in the booking information so please read the class description carefully. If you have fabric or tools that you prefer to use, bring them along and if that can be accommodated, it will. If you have any concerns get in touch here or use the chat function
-
Do I need to bring a sewing machine to lessons? No, we have 4 x Brother A150's for you to use, and in fact, it's easier & quicker to just use those. If however you really want to bring your own machine, please speak to us before booking as most lessons are planned with our machines, ready to go, in mind
-
I'm running late for my booking, what shall I do?Give us a call on 07787772194, or send us a message if you possibly can, not if you're driving obviously, so we can adjust our plan accordingly. Ring the doorbell on arrival if the shop door is locked!
